Would have liked to have given more advanced warning, but unfortunately my ATT DSL service was down from 5/9 through 5/15 as a result of a faulty modem (which I told them was the case on Tuesday, but that's another story altogether).
In all liklihood the most critical aspect of today's election for Nazareth residents is the new voting machines themselves.
Borough Democrats have some choice in voting for US Senator (three candidates) and Lieutenant Governor (four candidates), but Governor, State Senator, and State Representative all have incumbents who are unopposed. The Democrats have no challenger for US Congress.
On the Republican side of the ticket there is one candidate each for US Senator, Governor, Lt. Governor, and US Congress, and State Senator, and no candidate at all for State House.
The party state committee candidates probably offer the most competition, though I'd doubt too many folks will state up late tonight to see who makes it.
Despite the lack of competitive races, be sure to get out and vote, try the new machines, and let everyone know what you think by posting your comments. I'll be voting after work and will report on my own experience tonight.

I think the machines themselves were very easy to use, and the new system makes write-in voting much siimpler. But what I did not like was that a judge of elections was standing over evertyone's shoulders. I had to tell him repeatedly to give me some space. Last time I checked, voting is a private matter. I know the voting official just wanted to help, but he should not be near a voter unless the voter asks for help.
