Alternative Building Proposal to be Presented by Citizen's Group

The citizen's group that has formed to stop the new Government Center Proposed at Nazareth Hall Park has announced it will be providing to Council on Thursday an alternate plan.

This plan will include architectural drawings and while I've not seen the plan, it is expected based on the email I received, to be located in the downtown area and within budget (which was set at about $1.1 million). I would further anticipate this would be a renovation of the existing 30 Belvidere facility.

Additionally, Council is expected to be presented with a revised Government Center Proposal at Thursday's Workshop session from the Committee who had previously directed the engineer and the architect to scale back the project.

To what extent Council will consider this alternate plan will be of interest. Their response to this proposal will clearly indicate to the people their desire to either push through what they have on the table or their willingness to consider options.

I hope the turn-out is good. I fear that the momentum is starting to slow down.

Sorry for not responding sooner, but as noted the workshop is tonight 8/3 and the business meeting is Monday, August 7.

Like many others I was on vacation, but back now and hoping for a good turnout tonight as well.

Will have a full recap tonight
