New Council Member & Gov't Center Proposal?

Tonight's Borough Council Meeting should determine who will fill the seat vacated by Michael Davis when he moved out of the area.

It has also been noted that a new proposal will be commented upon in regard to the New Government Center. What will be said is obviously not known. There were a pair of statements following last month's meeting by Davis and Councilman Samus stating a new proposal would be announced at October's meeting that would have unanimous approval. Then on Thursday night an executive session was held that was related to the proposal.

The assumption is that a new location has been identified and that since it is neither the Park, nor 30 Belvidere it will be the solution everyone is seeking.

I'm pretty confident there will not be an ideal solution at this point. Cost will still be a significant factor and if a new location is proposed for consideration, we'll need a whole new set of plans drawn up for review, and plans for what to do with the other Borough properties (30 Belvidere and Chambers).

It ought to be an interesting meeting.

As council has taught us in the past year, the 30 Belvidere St. location is uninhabitable and not suitable or safe for human occupation. So I would expect the council to turn it into an arts center or visitor's center or something like that. ;)

I hope they turn it into something like that and not sell it to be turned into housing or something like that. counil neeeds to accept that the town they all live in has a history including the old buildings. They need to respect them and also in supporting the Main St initiative they need to show that they plan to support it's principals as well as just voting to support it financially. That means find a solution for 30 Belvidere that fits the plan.
