A note came home on Friday from Shafer Principal Mudlock that should concern all Nazareth Area parents.
In the letter it stated that two situations occured on Thursday, the first was the report of a man who was walking around the school during recess. Students reported that they saw someone, police where called, but the man was not found. It was the second day it had happened and outdoor recess was cancelled the rest of the day.
The second incident was an attempted break-in at the school on Thursday night.
It does not identify what concerned the students to report the man or how the attempted break-in was found out, but it is a good reminder to talk to your kids about strangers and staying together in groups when playing by themselves.

Coincidentally, I had the opportunity to attend a great program on "stranger danger" presented by Mr.Bittner (of Action Karate) to the Holy Family Cub Scout pack meeting this past Friday night. The program did not have any karate content, but had well presented, kid friendly information that would benefit all families. I was very impressed with his presentation. He is great with the kids and really got thier attention.
Having just recieved this notice from the school, it really hit home for us. I think that all our local schools should consider having him in for an assembly. At the very least it is worth stopping by his studio and picking up a copy of the DVD he showed at the meeting.
