There was a meeting of the Shafer PTA on Monday, October 2, 2006 and a reader reported to me the following:
Featured at the meeting was Superintendent Dr. Lesky.
About twenty people were present and many standard questions including those regarding report cards and student transcripts were asked by parents.
The teachers' strike was discussed and apparently a handout (with limited numbers) was distributed showing salary compared to other districts (if you have one please share it).
A question was asked if the teachers were allowed to discuss what they would like to be offered and the answer was yes and the administration and Board as well as people would like to hear it.
New Shafer Principal, Mudlock, noted that students are allowed up to be tardy up to four times before a letter comes home and as this is elementary the parents are responsible to get their children to school.
Many thanks to the reader who sent the email to editor@newsovercoffee.com about the meeting attended. If you go to meetings open to the public, drop me a line and let me know what happened. If you were there and disagree with the post or have information to add, please post a comment or email me as well. The more information shared the better!
