In an article in the Morning Call (read it here) Hanover Township officials gave notice that they may leave if negotiations regarding the ownership of a new police headquarters are not resolved. The township, however, noted their only reason for making the statement is to provide them the option to do so, because by-laws require one year notice and if they didn't make the statement now, they would be stuck for one year in an arrangement they might want out of.
The three Colonial Regional municipalities have recently argued over the funding formula and now over the ownership of a new headquarters.
According to the article, Hanover is in the best position to maintain its own force.

This is disturbing on multiple levels.
First, it shows how the municipalities can't get along for the good of the communities which they represent and is more of a power struggle between them.
Second, it puts a large degree of uncertainty in the future of those currently serving in the CRPD. These people have chosen a difficult profession with a lot of stress, and now the township leaders throw out a threat that could potentially put the force in jeopardy.
This only makes me wonder how well they will be able to pull off the regional development plan. Yes, they are all signing on, but you can bet that there will be issues similar to this one that will cause it to fall apart.
Their stupidity baffles me! Get over it, get over yourselves, and do what is best in the public interest and safety.
