Media Perspective on the Council Meeting

Both the Express-Times (read the article here) and Morning Call (read the article here) had articles on last night's Council meeting this morning.

Both articles emphasized the tonal warning system being included in the budget and the budget being a no-tax increase budget in 2007.

Arlene Martinez in the Morning Call did mention the newly formed "Transition" Committee that has been meeting and wrote:
The committee, made public for the first time Monday, has met twice.

Residents questioned whether such meetings were open to the public.

Because the meetings are held at Lafayette, the committee chairman said, he would have to check with the bank.

''We'll get back to you as to how it's going to work,'' Councilman Conrad Bowers told residents.
It should be noted that the approval of the preliminary budget does not mean that every item noted has been approved as well, only that the items were accounted for within the budget. Each item will need to meet all regular purchase requirements.

Turns out there was a second article on the Council meeting in the Express-Times that focused on my question regarding the new transition committee meetings.

It didn't turn up in my search this morning, but was brought to my attention today.

You can read it here.
