Skate Park Gains Support of Upper Nazareth
The Express-Times reports (read the article here) that the Upper Nazareth Township Supervisors have agreed in principle to allocate funds in their 2007 budget for a one time contribution to the construction of a Skate Park in Nazareth Borough. The amount will be determined based on project costs and what other municipalities will contribute.

This is particularly frustrating given the other article about the library. While I definitely appreciate the idea of a skate park for Nazareth-area youth, this makes me look closely at my priorities, and I'm still in my teens. The library is of service to more citizens, is more "useful", and is already in existance. Why put money into an uncertain project rather than a service that has existed for many, many years?
As a Upper Nazareth Township resident and mother of 2 teenagers, I would like to Thank the township for contributing to the skate park. While my children are heavily involved in their high school's sports teams, some of their friends are not involved in much of anything. I think the skate park is a great way to keep some of these kids busy and give them somewhere to go.
Skate park funding is fine but please do not take away you committment and funding of a community library that services all citizens.
It's about time Nazareth does something for alternative kids. There has always been a large pobulation in the town. Someone finally realized that not all kids are on the football team, a wresteler, or cheerleader, and that's o.k. We've been sending these kids a message for far too long that they don't matter. Why then should they care what trouble they get in. Bravo to who ever decided that these kids deserve the same respect the quarterback does.
The idea of putting a skate park in nazareth would really get this town booming... i think it is a stupendous idea and we should get on the road with this. The adult citizens of Nazareth will have a well maintained place to go drop off their kids while they can go out and get drunk with people they met on the internet. It will be a slammin good time for all great hijinks and fun times for everyone.
