While not technically a Nazareth area event, last night's meeting regarding the Northampton County Voter Registration and Election Office, had a local flavor as resident Bernie O'Hare had some tough questions, and Bushkill resident Peg Ferraro served on the Committee holding the meeting.
The Committee is an ad-hoc committee of five individuals, according to the article that appeared today in the Express-Times by Sarah Cassi (read the article here) whose mission is to ensure that the Elections Office is as compliant, effective and efficient as possible.
Some issues discussed were procedural, some legal (as related to voting rights), and some were in regard to the new electronic voting machines.
Overall the goal of the group is to improve the office and ensure smooth elections this year.
I mention the article because Nazareth Borough has an unusually high number of seats up for election this year due to previous resignations. Six of nine will be contested in addition to other local seats and positions including School Board.
