What the Change to the Site Means to You

To say the least I was disappointed with the way today transpired on the site in regard to comments made. Many readers have asked me all along to eliminate anonymous comments and I declined believing they are important (to have the opportunity, not all that are made have actual value as has been evident).

I still do believe they are important, so while I'm requiring registration to post, I'm also willing to post anonymous comments myself. Email me at editor@newsovercoffee.com and I'll determine if the anonymous comment is worth posting or not. While this is not ideal it is the place I find myself in. By determine, of course, I mean is it consistent with the site decorum. If it is not a personal attack it will be posted, not real-time, but it will be posted.

I will continue to place the paid business links as I planned along with one initial post announcing the new business, its services, and contact information. I will offset it with =======Paid Business Link=======. While I don't think most readers would miss the fact that it is a purchased business link based on the copy, I'm alright including it to appease those who are concerned with mixing 'normal' posts with 'promotional' ones.

To clarify, non-profits, groups and organizations can continue to submit anything they want to include about their organization at no charge. Businesses who want a presence on the site can purchase a paid business link. A paid business link will include a link to each NOC site, one post on the News page, and include the business on the Business Map.

Businesses without a web site can link to the post made on the site and eliminate the need for a website to have an online presence, at least early on. The cost to make this purchase is $50.00 for one month with a three month minimum, billed prior to the start of each month.

I hope everyone understands that I simply can't monitor every hour of every day and since not everyone has demonstrated they can be trusted to comment responsibly, I have to take the step of restricting the ability to comment without consequence or risk losing my readership, and I've worked too hard to develop a wonderful readership.

You can of course post comments (see the post below if you need to know how to register) or email me comments to post for you about these changes.

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Ross
