The story has changed.
At first the story was State Senator Lisa Boscola's Chief of Staff Bernie Kieklak's comments on Nazareth blogger Bernie O'Hare's Lehigh Valley Ramblings. No one has defended these comments in any way shape or form except for Kieklak who seems to think they are ok for him to make as a citizen (visit LV Ramblings for several articles on this or NOC's post which includes Kieklak's comments word for word and commentary on them). Kieklak has stated he is proud of everything he has done. No remorse.
Now the story is about Boscola. It is about her standards and it is about her decision making process.
Boscola is a State Senator, an elected official who is to represent the people of this area in Harrisburg. Often our elected officials are seen as leaders within their community. Boscola's decision not to fire Kieklak and then not to accept his resignation, but instead to keep him on staff demonstrate that she supports him and his actions. Moreover it shows that holding office is more important to Boscola than having standards of decency and civility.
The people she represents will have to question other decisions she is making on our behalf in Harrisburg, because this decision was so publicly and clearly wrong.
