Police Blotter Addendum

After the recent listing of two local incidents, both the Express-Times (read it here) and Morning Call (read it here) report today that the treasurer of the Hecktown Ambulance Corp. is accused of using Corp. checks to pay personal bills.

The Morning Call article reports
"Cheryl Oblick, 40, of 570 Georgetown Road, Lower Nazareth Township, also is accused of forging signatures on other Hecktown Ambulance checks, court documents state.

When confronted in March about the missing money, Oblick ''freely admitted'' that she had used Hecktown Ambulance checks to pay her bills and ''questioned the severity of her crime,'' Colonial Regional police said in court documents."

WOW!

There is crime in the Nazareth area.

I don't understand why there is such a reluctance to post crime information for the general public.

It was close to a week before the two robberies on main street were reported about. One has to wonder how much more goes on while we are kept in the dark.

The only way to decrease crime is to inform the citizens that it does go on, how to better protect yourself, and more important, what to be on the watch for.

Hopefully with a new chief in Nazareth and if the CRPD members could stop bickering, we the citizens might get a little more honesty from them.

Cheryl,

The 'severity' of the crime is the SAME whether we are talking about $2500 or $100,000.

Stealing is stealing. It is always wrong to take something that does not belong to you.

People donate money to these organizations with the intention of the funds being used for a public service and not to make up a shortfall in an individual's bank account to cover music lessons.

This points to basic ethics, honesty and integrity.

I can't believe this news gets 2 comments and a group of kids on skateboards gets public outrage!

I have to agree with Amused.

This woman should be removed from her position, and, receive a harsh punishment.

Her's is a position of public service and trust, both of which have been blown completely out of the water.

The money donated is to support the so they can support us.

Don't get me wrong, I have the greatest admiration for those willing to give up their time without compensation to serve their fellow citizens.

However, I view this as taking away from those services and putting the general public at risk.

Go directly to jail, do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

I am glad you are so quick to judge. Anonymous are you now judge and jury. Do you have all the circumstances and evidence? Remember everyone can make a mistake, just remember we all must get up and look in the mirror every morning. If you would have read the article completely, she was no longer in her position as of March. I agree what she did was wrong, but in the same regard, do you know her as a person? Do you know her circumstances. Put yourself in her families shoes, how would you feel if it was someone you cared about being talked about like this before the verdict was out.
