The Morning Call has an article today on Nazareth resident David Fillmore, 62, who when seeking a new hobby following a career as a computer programmer, took up paleontology (read it here).
Fillmore, working on his senior project, discovered a fossil in the Reading Museum, that has garnered significant attention and an article on National Geographic's web site according to the article.
According to the Morning Call article the fossil is, "one of the oldest known trace fossils of an amphibian -- about 330 million years old, 100 million years older than the first dinosaurs."
Fillmore is in Denver presenting a paper he co-wrote on the fossil to the Geological Society of America.
While I didn't find the National Geographic article, I did find this one from Science Daily which includes a photo of the fossil in which you can see the amphibian complete with what appear to be webbed feet (read and view it here).
The Geological Society also has a press announcement here.
