Roll of the Dice Determines School Board Election

In the race for Nazareth Area School Board consisting of part of Upper Nazareth and Nazareth, Jerry Treon and Don Keller each had 11 write-in votes.

According to the Morning Call, the two met at the elections office yesterday and fifteen numbered dice were rolled, low number wins. Treon had a 3, Keller 15.

Keller chose not to run for re-election but noted he would have continued to serve had we won the write-in and/or dice roll (read the article here).

Treon, a former teacher and former head of the NAEA, will join the Board with others elected to office this year.

I know Ross will probably ban this post but I have to get this off my chest. I had Jerry Treon for trig/elem functions/calc throughout high school. Back in the 80's there was no choice for the upper level math courses, it was Jerry or nothing. Jerry was such a poor example of what a teacher should be that I actually attended several board meetings pleading that he be replaced or at least provide students with a choice. I was told that they could not do anything because he was tenured.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I'll end my post with no further negative comments.
