There were actually "two" meetings tonight. The first meeting was to swear in the four members elected (Mr. Maher, Mr. Butz, Mr. Treon and Mr. Bradley) and to reorganize the board. Mr. Heller presided over the board while Mr. Butz was nominated and seconded for President. There was nobody else nominated for this position. Subsequently, Mr. Hensley was nominated and elected for Vice President. They then adjourned and reconvened (the "second" meeting of the night) with the new board.
The second meeting flew by with only a couple items of interest - the first one being the 3rd reading of the new Medication Policy and the subsequent approval of both the new Meds Policy and the new Dress Code. The second item of interest being the interview schedule for the position of Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Approximately 16 applications were received and the admin will be interviewing a handful of those starting this Thursday (Dec 6).
Dr. Lesky will present his report at the next meeting. Of possible interest is the continued decline in enrollment numbers. Over the past two meetings, enrollment district enrollment has been down, for example as of Nov 12th, district enrollment was 4746 and now as of Nov 29th, it is 4733 with most of the decline coming at the high school.
Next meeting (Dec 17th) should be busy with lots going on, most notably first glance at the 2008-09 budget.
Meeting(s) were both finished just after 8 PM.

I am very curious about the decline in high school. Why are students leaving the high school? This is a great questions that should be asked!!!
A few HS kids from my neighborhood, NJ transplants who only within the last five years moved to Nazareth, have recently sold and moved away from the area. The new owners being older folks, w/o kids.
Albeit, I'm not sure this is the major reason for the decline.
