Do Not Track

Again, not specific to Nazareth, but most likely relevant to anyone who visits this site (as you are online) I read last month about a move to create Do Not Track legislation in Information Week (November 12 issue).

According to the article, the Center for Digital Democracy and the US Public Interest Research Group spoke at an FTC meeting in early November and addressed the online marketing practices of many major consumer companies.

One group during these hearings called for a Do Not Track list, similar to Do Not Call.

This prompted many news organizations and groups to comment (view a list from Google here).

What do you think? Would this be a good idea or would it shut down many sites and services that currently provide free service to users in exchange for the data they collect?
