Two articles today, one from the Morning Call and one from the Express-Times address significant historical events - the Battle of the Bulge and the Civil War.
The article regarding the Battle of the Bulge was written by Upper Nazareth veteran Robert Faro, who is encouraging people to attend the December 19 presentation by the Lehigh Valley Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge at the Easton Public Library (read the article here).
The other article is by James Wright who tells what is known of a civil war photographer from Nazareth - William Kuntsman (read the article here).

For the past week, I've been posting a series of blogs about the Bulge, my father and author Kurt Vonnegut. They were infantry scouts in the 106th, captured on the 19th and spent 5 months in Dresden at a POW camp. While there, they witnessed the total destruction of what was possibly the most beautiful city in the world as a result of American and British firebombing.
Just a few weeks ago, my brother found a diary my dad kept for about a week after his release from the POW camp. He also found an amazing and stirring letter that Vonnegut wrote to his own family in '45. In many ways, that letter is the original Slaughterhouse Five.
Very interesting-thanks for sharing. Do you think the diary will be published? Just curious.
k, The diary only contains about seven entries. I doubt it's something that would be published, although it might make for an interesting magazine article. Vonnegut's three page letter, however, is simply amazing.
