Nazareth Kiwanis Club Update

Many thanks to Sally for forwarding this news and information related to the Nazareth Kiwanis:

November & December Happenings:

-Held a Holiday Basket Bingo fundraiser that raised $2500 for the club. Fundraisers like this helps fund some of the activities listed below.

-Donated a Thanksgiving gift basket to St. John's U. C. C. in Nazareth.

- Donated $350 to the RIF (Reading is Fundamental) program which is sponsored by PA READS and the Shafer PTA. State funding was cut so the PTA is seeking other ways to fund the distribution of three free books per child at Shafer Elementary. (FYI) Funding was cut due to Shafer having such a low percentage of students on the free lunch program.

-Kiwanis of Nazareth club adopted two Salvation Army families from the Slate Belt area and provided gifts for them. The gifts included toys, clothes and a gift card to Giant grocery store.

- The club also donated holiday gifts to the Safer Harbor Shelter in Easton as well gifts to some residents of Gracedale Manor.

-The Nazareth Area Middle School Builders Club (Kiwanis community Leadership program for middle school students) sponsored Salvation Army tree tags and supplied the children with toys on their wish list.

The Nazareth Area High School Key Club (Kiwanis community leadership program for high school students) decorated the Gracedale Nursing Home with holiday lights and sang carols to residents.

The Shafer Elementary K-Kids ( ....leadership program for elementary children) decorated holiday cards and place mats for the Alexandria Manor in Nazareth.

AS ALWAYS: We are always looking for Nazareth area volunteers to join the Kiwanis club to help out with projects like those listed above.
