Did you hear?

I received a note from a resident in Farmview Estates (the homes off Tatamy Road between the HS and MS) noting that twice now their family has been awakened late at night by a loud explosion which has turned out to be packages of firecrackers and fireworks encased in a box. Apparently the entire box is set on fire to encourage everything to blow-up at once instead of one at a time.

Both incidents were in the same vicinity on 4th Street, the most recent one a couple nights ago at 3 in the morning. Considering the cold temperature and second occurrence the person was concerned that this might be more than a random act.

Has anyone else heard about this? Outside of notifying the police, what can be done? The only other thing I can imagine is taking note of odd incidents, then again at 3 in the morning most of us are often sleeping.

This is where I think having map mash-ups that indicate where crimes, incidents and accidents have occurred are good for the public. If people can see there are a series thefts - say from garages and sheds, it can remind them to lock-up and keep an eye out.

I didn't know about this and I live in that development. I will certainly keep my eyes open about this for sure! Thanks for the info!

There must be something about the street as a car hit a mailbox, uprooting it, and left tire tracks on the lawn. The car did not stop and this happenend during the day.
