Local History Online

In many small communities, local history is often kept in the minds of a dedicated few and in the archives of the library and local churches.

JD Malone reports on the project the Memorial Library of Nazareth and Vicinity has undertaken through Access Pennsylvania to put online (read the article here):

The library has digitized and placed online a 272-page book chronicling the area's men and women at war and local events from the time, and issues of the one-time weekly, the Nazareth Item, from 1891 to 1917.

The material can be accessed here (though I got an error opening the Nazareth Item, the scrapbook popped right up).
