The Express-Times reports that Nazareth's new head football coach may now be tried with another in the assault of a teenager following a Northampton football game (read it here).
What I must have failed to immediately pick up on from earlier reports was that a student made a derogatory remark that a senior took offense of (got that). The senior assaulted the student and student B stepped in to try to stop the fight. While the senior turned his attention on student B (missed that, thought it was original culprit), Melosky stepped in and also assaulted student B (the innocent, good Samaritan wannabe). The original student, who upset the senior, was not assaulted, but instead, student B, who attempted to stop or end the problem, was struck several times in the face by Melosky - clearly groggy after the punches by one individual who testified in court.
I had actually thought that Melosky assaulted the 17 year old who got in a fight with a 70+ year old, but now it seems clear (particularly in re-reading) he assaulted the individual that attempted to stop a fight between a 17 and a 70+ year old.
Earlier reports (read it here) indicated from the preliminary hearing that Melosky not only struck the would be 'good samaritan' several times in the face, but repeatedly called out, "do you know who I am?"
The Admin and Board at first said they were confident Melosky would be exonerated, but later there seemed to be some indication that a decision would be made following the hearing.
The case is now scheduled for June 27.

It's a mess and I wouldn't have touched it with a 10 ft pole even if I was convinced that he was inocent. What was the board thinking? I guess like everything else it was a political move. Someone's friend?
per the Express Times:
Prosecutors want to combine the court proceedings against the Nazareth Area High School football coach
it irks me a great deal how this reads---as if he were a nazareth coach when this incident happened...
no we are just the idiot district that would hire him before it is all settled legally
if convicted then what?
suppose admin and board were willing to risk our reputation as a district in exchange for a few possible wins on the football field
not to mention the risk of any further illegal bad behavior on his part?
athletic success at what price?
The majority of coaches in the LVL all know what Meloskey is like. Nazareth is going to be a laughing stock. Plus, I'd still like to know what will happen when nazareth plays Northampton....Meloskey is barred from their stadium.
"Nazareth is going to be a laughing stock"
uhhh. arent we already though ;).. and not just for the sake of football anymore.
i was at a local eating establishment and overheard that the golf team is getting together to request Nazareth build a new golf course for the team... yikes!!
Just read over on the football forum that kids are quitting football already becuase meloskey doesn't want them playing other sports.
So are we going to be responsable for his salary if he gets arrested/convicted and cannot work for us?
As far as being responsible for the football coach's salary if he can't "work" for us, well, I think the contract probably has some sort of contingency clause; but of course if he's already gotten a teaching job, then that may look a bit different. You do realize that he currently teaches in Parkland? How's he going to negotiate Route 22 from Parkland to Nazareth in the afternoon? Gosh, we better hurry up and find him a more convenient position right here in Naz-land, aka Parkland East.
So, the golf team wants a golf course? Please, just save room for the Equestrian Center and the Stables.
Nothing was ever said that the golf team wants to build a course. All high schools play on the local public courses for a fee. They do not have their " own". I think it was meant as a joke or overheard as a pun intended as a joke. As parents on the booster club and student that plays golf on the team, I never heard anything that the golf team was getting together to request such. They are happy playing at Whitetail. Think about it what hs do you know that has their own private golf course?
As someone coming into the teaching profession, I reiterate something that we have been taught...and that is to ALWAYS "dress" to the position you aspire to.
As a 4th generation Nazareth resident, 2 of those whom retired from the district, my reletives closets were clean, kempt, and set good examples for those who opened the door. As things "changed" here in Nazareth over the past 15-20 years, it seems the current closets adorn more clown suits, than buisiness suits. Needless to say, I'll take my shirt and tie (and Master's degree) to a district with respect.
They should "throw the book" at Mr. Meloski. He violates everything teachers and coaches work hard to represent; an organized and professional attitude focused on teamwork, leadership and self-control. The school board sould be ashamed of themselves, but they are not. Herein lies another example of self-interests and an ignorance of public opinion and concern. I sympathize with parents of football players who have no choice but to let their child be "coached" and influenced by this person.

Your post is confusing. Does Mr. Meloski not “dress” to aspire or is this some sort of analogy gone astray? If you are in fact talking about how people dress, then let me assure you that today the “business casual” dress code is employed to make employees feel more comfortable; thereby increasing productivity.
If you are in fact a teacher with a Master’s degree, then shame on you for not using spell check before posting. I do agree that Mr. Meloski is a terrible decision that Lesky and the school board should be publicly shamed.
You are taking his post too literally. I knew exactly what he meant......and he wasn't talking about a dress code.
"Dress," is a broad and general term for both professionalism, and moral and ethical representation.
I teach my students...spell check is a wonderful thing. Used especially when typing professional documents and reports. When concerning opinion, it is FAR MORE important to express oneself, than to worry about spelling.
Opinions should not be hindered by preoccupations.
Thanks for reading.
In what dictionary or reference does the word "dress" mean "professionalism, and moral and ethical representation"?
You post that we should dress to the position that we aspire to then in the same vain impart that it's not important to spell correctly. Sheesh, maybe it's a good thing you won't be teaching at Nazareth.
Is "vain" spelled correctly or should it be vein? Just wondering.
There was a job posting on the district website last Wednesday for a Physical Education teacher. By Thursday it was removed. Who do you think got that job?
