State Budget on School Funding

The Express-Times has two articles related to the recently passed State Budget on school funding.

The first (read it here) outlines the approach, specifically noting a formula was created to calculate a more fair process. The formula takes into consideration "tax base". As a result Bangor received nearly a 13% increase over last year while Saucon Valley on a 3% increase.

The second article included funding levels for the coming year along with the percent increase (read it here).

Nazareth will receive $7,759,798.00, a 5.55% increase.

An update to this - the NASD approved budget was in the amount of $7,761,483, which means the final budget number came in a slight bit lower than anticipated ($1,685).
