The Morning Call reports that Tong Shing Restaurant in Nazareth (across from Giant on 248) is suing the Commonwealth of PA in Federal Court (read the article here).
The suit stems from a charge that the local health inspector, who regularly received a 50% discount when eating at the restaurant, barged into the kitchen and found violations after only receiving a 20% discount.
There were a variety of charges to which the state claims there is no basis.
It also notes that Jin Fu Zhong sold the restaurant recently. He'd owned it for 17 years.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Zhong's lawyer is quoted pushing a racial stereotype?
"Chinese people are generally not combative," Wang said. "He really didn't want to sue."
The last time I ate there, I got so sick that night that I was sure I had food poisoning. I couldn't leave the bathroom for almost four days. When I was finally feeling better, the Morning Call ran an article on how restaurant inspections and violations were now available to view on the Internet. Sure enough, Tong Shing had been closed and fined on numerous occasions for health violations. That was almost five years ago and I have never been back since.
Am I the only one that finds it a little disturbing that, if true, the statements from the restaurant owner that the local health inspector was basically bought off with a 50% discount and only acted when he was given a lesser one?
Welcome to town, state, and federal politics (re: the discount/payoff).
If true, the inspector(s) should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law for betraying the public trust.
Yes, I agree the inspect. should also be prosecuted!
I don't feel it's right for inspectors to think they should get a discount for food, they are paid very well and Mr Zhong didn't even have to give Ms Sweeney anything.
