Looked over the agenda for Monday's NASD board meeting. And look what I found:
VII. Item H:
Authorize the Administration to submit to the Pennsylvania Department of Education a Self-Certification Application for a Non-Reimbursable Construction Project, for the paving/resurfacing, box culvert, embankment fill and related utilities, at a total cost not to exceed $800,000.00; and further approve the design and bidding of the culvert connecting the 7/8 Building to the Nazareth Area High School. (Capital Projects Fund)
After initially rejecting this road in June as too costly, our school board has decided to try it again. When the original vote was taken, there were only 7 members present and the vote went as follows:
NO - Maher, Treon, Bradley, McDonald
YES - Butz, Audenreid, Heller
Now, that we seem to have a full board showing up for meetings, it will be interesting to see how the new vote turns out.
For what it's worth, I think the road is probably a good idea. I don't like the fact that it's nearly $1M but what bothers me the most is that it's an "extra". Something that wasn't in the original bid yet we probably needed it anyway. That's like going to the car dealership and buying your car without any seats. It will run, but it's not very practical.
Should be interesting on Monday...
