Charges Dropped Against Sweeney

In a story related to the Melosky trial, the DA dropped charges against James Sweeney according to the Morning Call (read the article) and Express-Times (read the article).

In the Morning Call article it notes:
''We felt as though we already had a trial on this,'' District Attorney John M. Morganelli said. ''The facts would be the same. We thought a conviction was warranted [in the Melosky trial], but we respect the jury's decision. Mr. Sweeney's involvement was even less.'' Morganelli said trying Sweeney would tax ''limited resources, and the case was really already heard.''
