I found this part interesting:
Regardless of the trial's outcome, state Education Department spokeswoman Leah Harris said Melosky could be barred from the classroom. And this:
''A conviction doesn't mean a certain action is necessarily taken,'' Harris said. ''Also, you don't need a conviction to take action.''
During any disciplinary process, Melosky would retain his teaching certificate, but Parkland would have authority to suspend him. Harris said that if Parkland doesn't request an investigation, a private citizen can.Apparently, though, coaching is a different beast as the article only mentions the teaching component.

Regardless of the outcome of this trial, the Nazareth Administration and school board should be hanging their heads in shame for hiring him in the first place. His credentials and past behaviors should have removed him at the first cut. Someone on Mcall.com said he would probably get off becuase of his connections in Northampton and Parkland. I find that hard to believe, considering the arresting officer was from Northampton and the school district has banned him from Al Erdosy stadium. Parkland removed him as head football coach. Were none of these things a red flag to Nazareth? Honestly, I don't know how lesky or the school board can even show their face in Nazareth and not be ashamed.
As the spouse of a teacher, I believe that no matter the outcome he will NOT be coaching OR teaching... Well there goes MORE tax dollars well spent.... :-(
Okay.. this is just me talking here. but lets think this through, how many people on here have complained about the skateboarders/the spray paint and anything else involved with how cocky these kids are today. I hear how disrespectful they are each and every day. So what happened here, this guy grabs one by the throat and straightens him out.. I mean did he shove a gun in his mouth? pull a knife on him? NO.. he lost his cool, just like some of us do at times. There was a situation that night at the game according to the police statement, and this Melosky basically abused the wrong guy. Im not going to condone his actions, violence is wrong-- no doubt about that.. and yes he was def. at fault.
As for teaching, the guy screwed up.. Does he have a rap sheet a mile long? i dont think he does.. So what everyone is trying to say is this guy should never hold another job around high school kids? There big boys now (well the way they talk to people you would think).. Let him teach, maybe there might be some discipline brought back to Nazareth. As for the football.. i might be old school here on this one, but isnt this a tough-guy, violent sport? Maybe its time we got some tuffness up here again, instead of getting our asses handed to us every Friday.. We had to cough up 1.5 million for some football field, i mean it would be nice to maybe win a game or two this year.
To end my rambling, im sure there are alot of people on here who know people that are good people who have made mistakes and regret them. Could we have hired someone else ? Yes. Should we have? Yeah, probably. Whats done is done, i say at least give the guy a shot for a year and then pass judgement.
sorry i misread.. he punched him, not grabbed the kids throat..
Kevster - while you may know of incidents, or have heard of them, without evidence or proof to support, it is not appropriate to post them, at least on this site.
Yes, Melosky was removed for personnel reasons from coaching, but he kept his teaching position at Parkland (I do understand he is on paid leave until the outcome of this trial). To date the school has not released what those reasons were.
While I deleted the original, here it is without the one paragraph that 'detailed' these wrongdoings.

Even if this incident with punching a kid HAD NOT gone down this is a horrible hire.
Melosky DOES have a rap sheet. Maybe not in the traditional sense, but he was disposed of by Parkland well before any of this new stuff happened.
[paragraph removed by NOC]
I know that Nazareth is a very insular community, but I do not believe for ONE SECOND that Lesky and his minions did not know what Robby Boy has been up to that caused him to get dismissed at Parkland, have female personnel reassigned, at Freedom, etc.
Somebody owed someone a favor and we are stuck with mr no morals and huge ego.
No big deal. Nazareth doesn't have the talent to compete in football in the LVC and Rob is a front runner who will leave if times are tough.
Ryan,
Melosky did not beat up some cocky, mouthy kid, he beat up a kid who was trying to do the right thing, in the right way - stop an argument between two other people without fighting.
Melosky's failure to assess the situation properly coupled with his over aggression and arrogance led to his beating a good Samaritan to the ground.
Whether or not this is a one time situation, I can't say, but it was at least one very public situation that now has him in court.
Regardless of the outcome, it demonstrates, at least to me, he is not a good role model for impressionable kids.
You can be tough without being out of control, and in this instance he was out of control and irresponsible.
Given that, and apparently 14 other candidates for the head coaching position, it seems Nazareth could have made a better decision.
Since it does concern both Parkland (his teaching position) and Nazareth (his coaching) it will be interesting to see how both schools respond once the court has made its decision.
previous poster states:
"Somebody owed someone a favor and we are stuck with mr no morals and huge ego."
to me this sounds an awful lot like an elementary principal hired a few years back
a pattern developing?

You are spot on. Check out they are both former Northampton jocks, close in age. Take a look at your HR director. Lots of webs tangled here...
Kevster -
Would be helpful if you post your info to another site with less stringent rules (No offense intended, NOC). TMC has a Melosky story from yesterday, and it will fly there as long as you don't go too far. The detail, without names to protect the victims, is important to the case we will have to make when Lesky tries to keep him.
None taken.
By now I'm sure most if not all know that I'm going to err on the side of caution.
Anyone here how the hearing went/is going?

They began selecting the jury today. It will probably be Friday before the show starts.
Appears they started and completed jury selection, and also had opening arguments, all in one day.
