The Eagle Has Landed

The NASD has a new piece of art in its collection - a roughly five to six foot tall statue of an eagle.

Off the Liberty Street entrance to Andrew S. Leh Stadium, the Eagle is positioned behind the ticket booth, head facing the field, wings raised and talons ready to strike.

I'd have to imagine the official unveiling will be Friday for Homecoming against Parkland.

Personally, I would have raised the statue on a concrete pedestal to give it height above the crowds and so that the surrounding rail to keep people from touching it didn't obstruct the view of the Eagle itself.

I'll try to get a photo to post in the future.

Thanks to HS Principal Alan Davis for replying to an inquiry today regarding the eagle.

It was a gift from the Class of 2006.

There probably is recognition on it as such, but we didn't get a close look since we were outside the gate.
