The Express-Times has several articles on the new Sonic Restaurant that opened off 248 near route 33, including one about the buzz created by the long lines (read it here).
I've driven by a few times and saw the long lines, at times coming out onto route 248 itself. One article addresses the traffic issue and police approach to it (read it here).
The Sonic chain has been around since 1953, but its core is in the south central part of the United States and has growing in all directions from Texas, which has 930 franchises. By comparison there twelve in PA, NJ, and DE combined and none others in NY, RI, CT or New England (see the franchise map here).
You can check out a menu here.
