Did You See Anything?

Borough Police are seeking individuals who may have witnessed an old man taking pictures of a girl as she got off her school bus according to an article in the Express-Times (read it here).

The incident occurred Thursday last week, in the borough at North Broad and East High Streets about 3:15 p.m.

I guess you could make this sound as dangerous or as harmless as you'd like. I recall the man who was reported to the policy by a bank employee for taking pictures in the Circle. He was pulled over and stopped. I've taken pictures there and around town of many buildings and locations as is evidenced in the left sidebar.

Is this current incident a cause for alarm, probably not, but once reported obviously there is a need to follow through and check, so if you saw anything please contact the police - 610-759-9575.

Whether the police like it or not, there's nothing illegal about doing this.

It's very important not to jump to any conclusions.

I say "good job" to the bus driver. This person was seen in the same location for a few days, the driver found it odd and reported it.

Is it illegal to take pictures on the streets? Definitely not, otherwise most of us would be in jail. If it was only one day, and he snapped a picture, the driver probably wouldn't have thought twice about it.

The point is, this driver (right or wrong) was concerned about the welfare and safety of a child in his care. Yes, he could have just dropped the child off and went on his merry way, but chose to do the right thing to err on the side of caution and bring it to the attention of the police.

We need more people like Elmer out there.
