Nazareth Around the Country

Was beginning to look like a slow news week until I dug into my Google Alerts and found more than few Nazareth residents featured in publications around the country.

Locally, but after I started my work day and didn't see this, the Express-Times reported that Nazareth HS Freshman, Kendall Ohrwashall, was one of ten students across the state recognized as a finalist by Prudential Financial for service to one's community (read the article here).

Then, I thought I had an article from the Desert Sun in Palm Springs, CA, but it turned out it was on their site copied from the Morning Call's article on the "The Really Terrible Orchestra" founded by Nazareth resident, Colleen Schoneveld (read it here).

Next, I got into sports, starting with a contributed article on the Bleacher Report, which noted the author now lives in Nazareth, PA, Lou Cappetta. Lou wrote about the Texas Rangers owner's response to the A-Rod steroid issue (read it here).

LinkA pair of wrestlers were featured for making a rebound. First, the Daily Collegian at State College, featured Tim Darling, who made his debut for PSU this past weekend (read the article here).

Second was an article from Technician (read it here), the student newspaper at NC State, featuring Ray Ward, and his return and turn-around, following a suspension. The article also references former Blue Eagle teammate Joey Caramanica, a Senior on the squad.

The Nazareth Speedway was referenced in the forums section of Speed TV and eKartingNews.com, but only in passing.

And finally, a Ravens fan in Nazareth, who caught my attention prior to the AFC Championship Game, again had some comments on the Ravens Fan Site. I let it go then, and will now, given the fact that this poor soul has to live with three losses in one season to my beloved Six-Burgh Steelers (not to mention a host of other issues that begin with a midnight move from Cleveland, pretending to be the former team that left Baltimore - 'introducing you're Baltimore'...nothing as the fans scream 'colts', and finally the fact that despite trying to do everything in the world to be like the Steelers, the Ravens won't ever be the Steelers;-)

And those are the relevant highlights from a dozen or so Google Alerts that landed the last two days, related to Nazareth, PA.

How about yesterday's Morning Call article about which schools offered the lowest and highest per student administrative costs:
http://www.mcall.com/news/custom/data/ ?

It shows that Nazareth Area School District has the lowest per student administrative costs in Northampton county, and is ranked 84 out of 501 school districts statewide.

I'm surprised this slipped past your "radar," but then again this is something positive about NASD administration. You are quick to point out the bad, but not as quick to point out the positive.
