The second stop on the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda begins this morning at 8:15 a.m. and Nazareth area residents Sage Karam and Corey Lewis are scheduled to compete.
The series will be competing alongside the featured event, the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. Also on track this weekend at the Virginia International Raceway will be the Star Mazda Series, and a few others. The Star Mazda Series is one step up from the Barber National and one step below the Indy Lights series.
The drivers will have a 45 minute practice session this morning, then qualifying is at 12:45. Race one takes place on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and Race two is on Sunday at 3:45 p.m.
I had the opportunity to meet Corey earlier this week and talk to him about his first race in this series at Sebring. I'll make a post over the weekend on that discussion and provide updates on how our two local drivers are doing.
Good luck Sage and Corey!
