The reason cited for the departure is a desire to work closer to home. Sinclair lives in Philadelphia. Nazareth waived its requirement that the Chief live within the Nazraeth School District for one year. Then the Chief took another job, said it was a mistake, had his contract renewed, and had the waiver extended another year.
We did not move the borough, following the hiring, nor did we misconstrue our proximity to Philadelphia. Citing this as a reason only supports the fact that we should have required him to move here in the first place, then it wouldn't be an issue now.
Many have questioned if Sinclair was reimbursed for travel (ie commuting), used a borough vehicle to do so (was gas paid for, extra milage added to a borough vehicle, etc), and there is the real issue of the Chief being immediately available in the instance when there was an emergency.
Moving forward, I hope the Borough strictly enforces its residency requirement and does not allow for waivers. There may have been gains in the department, but it also appears the residents absorbed costs we really didn't need to (he is using vacation and sick day until his contract expires so he is no longer working, but is getting paid according to the article).

Well I hope this time we hire someone who actually has a CLUE as to what is going on in the borough. I can't believe that the mayor actually believes that this person did such a GREAT job.... We loose all the experienced officers in the borough... We have MORE vandalism and break-ins, can't really catch anyone.... We have contract problems and staff problems... Oh yea I forgot... the mayor actually WANTED to get rid of the old staff.... Hmmmmm... Perhaps this person was only brought in to "clean house" What a shame!
We wasted all that money, time, experience and effort just to start a new again....
Sorry to see him go?? I think NOT.
I agree with Ross that the Chief should have been required to live in the school district. How ridicoulous to have a Chief living all the way in Phila. Why did Council fail to enforce that requirement? Oh, I forgot! Council doesn't really care what the Borough employees do. They only beat up on the Volunteers. Too bad Herbst and a few of the others are running unopposed this fall, isn't it?
If he doesn't want to play by the rules then I'm glad to see him go.
Hopefully they will hire a chief that knows what his officers are (or are not) doing. I've heard rumors, and granted they are only rumors that some officers are stopping vehicles for things like " an improperly aimed headlight" trailer brakes that are squeaking, or other petty things like window tint. I have no problem with them stopping people for window tint, however, if that is truly why they are pulling them over then they should stop EVERY car that they see with window tint, not just when they want to go fishing for DUI's. A good cop can find and stop drunk drivers without having to stoop to such horrible tactics. Anybody can make a DUI arrest when they sit and watch the door of a bar until someone comes out and gets in a car, then they follow them and pull them over for "window tint" Only police that are improperly trained have to rely on these types of stops to get drunks off the road. Nazazreth Police force has no one minding the store, with a new chief that gives a crap about the borough, the police department and its image, this police department can once again be productive(legally) and professional. Right now in my opinion neither of those two words could be used to describe the department.
The Nazareth police chief has accepted the top cop's position in West Conshohocken Borough, Pa., he said today.
Chief Michael Sinclair said he was notified late Tuesday night he was approved for the position and will be sworn-in Aug. 24.

The mayor was warned that this guy was a clown. Lucky for the borough in that they get rid of Sinclair now and Earl Keller will be out shortly. The big questions is who will be the next infamous leader in the borough. Sorry folks but you need fo wake up and find some leadership to deal with the mess you have in your quaint little community.
