Memorial Hall to Fall?

The Express-Times reports on a meeting in Stockertown that debated the future of Memorial Hall, which the Borough bought in 2006, but now needs repairs that far exceed the cost to demolish it (read the article here).

Why don't anyone ever write and explain how the Hall came to be. I was so upset by the behavior of the president of council and vice president when the letter was being read. How disrespectful they were. Someone shushed them , that didn't work they still were talking and not listening. Then I cleared my throat every loudly. They still continued to talk so us people on the other side of the room could hardly hear. I can't believe that council did nothing to controll this building before it got this so called bad. What I mean about that is no one can go inside to see if it is really that bad. Why weren't local contractors asked to be present when they did this evaluation on the building. This way you would of known if they were making more of it then what it really is. Did anyone on council ever have thier own contracting buissness ? NO was the answer. Now if us citizens bought this building why wasn't it announced that they were going to rent it out. All tax payers should of received a personnel lettter saying they were accepting applications. Incase you are all wondering the builing was built by Stockertown men and boys to serve as a memorial of the men serving in the war. I just wished the letter would of been published in the paper. I totally agree with this long time resident of Stockertown. Why wouldn't council look for help to save a building that our fathers built with respect, love and honor for our vets of Stockertown. I am sick to my stomach and my heart goes out for the residents that are still alive that helped build this building. To hear a women say she thought she would die before the Hall would die is sad. To disrespect our vets and not take care of the building. I blame council and I blame our so called exfire chief. Where was the supervision ? Look out council I will becoming to your meetings now and I hope you can answere questions this time. As for the president and her dirty looks she gave you and the rolling of her eyes. I know you want to just knock it down but I am sure vets all over this world would love to knock you down for your disrespect. Money is tough right now but if council would of did the job and supervised and I believe you were on the board at that time maybe we wouldn't behaving this mess now. Thank you for showing me and others that you don't care. Stockertown residents come and keep a close eye on council. Don't worry about the ugly faces she makes , she can't help her ignorance. God Bless our Vets.
