The PA Highlands

I was unaware there was such a thing as the Pennsylvania Highlands (except maybe for the retirement community off Van Buren Road), but it appears there is according to an article in the Morning Call (read it here).

The William Penn Foundation and the National Park Service Rivers & Trails Program is sponsoring the program and the pamphlets include information and maps of local parks and hiking trails across PA.  Louise Moore Park in Lower Nazareth is one of the sites promoted in the brochure.

(misspelled something the first time)

South Mountain, the Reading Prong, the Oley Hills, it's all part of that same ridge, bounding the Lehigh Valley on the south as the Kittatinny does on the north. Rich ecosystems and some fascinating places, like the Hexenkopf Hill, jasper quarries at Vera Cruz, and the Oley Hills stone work site, which is unfortunately privately owned and not open to the public. All well worth preserving.
