Intermediate School Concerns Addressed

A month ago a group of parents went to the school board with a variety of complaints related to the Intermediate School, and the Express-Times reports that those concerns were addressed recently (read the article here).

In the article, officials indicated that bus times have been resolved, playground equipment is on order, walking paths are being created, lunch is being served on time, and tables in the science labs will be removed over the summer and replaced with traditional desks.

On the academic side of the issues, district Superintendant Victor Lesky said of the intermediate school's math program, "One thing we noticed right away was that when we merged the three elementary schools into the intermediate school there were differences. So we have to rethink our math groupings."

Math instruction was one of the academic issues brought up at Monday night's meeting.
