Serving in Iraq

A classmate received this email from Mike Jasckoweic and forwarded it to me.  Mike was a wrestling teammate of mine and fellow Nazareth graduate in 1989.  He went on to attend West Point and graduated from there in 1993.  He’s remained in the service ever since.  Now married with a daughter, Mike has again been deployed to Iraq.

We wanted to post this note for those in the area that were friends with Mike and wanted to send a note of thanks and encouragement while he is serving all us (if anyone would like to do the same for others in service email editor@newsovercoffee.com):

Greetings, all!

Have arrived in Camp Basrah.  It's the rainy season, but we haven't seen any rain yet.  Little damper than I expected.

Our arrival was greeted by a few rockets pointed in our general direction, but no harm done.  I expect folks just wanted us to feel welcome.

Still in transient tents, which, believe it or not, are still nicer accommodations than the last time I deployed (at least we have a latrine.)

Mailing address is:

MAJ Jaskowiec, Michael A.

OPS Co, 1ID, Unit # 117

APO AE 09374

Facebook access is limited at the moment, so this is the best way to contact me for now (mikejasko@yahoo.com)

Please feel free to forward as desired, since I have contact information all over the place at the moment.

Best wishes,

Mike

Thanks a lot for posting, Ross - appreciate it.
I was thinking of sending him a case of Lorna dunes
and a 10 pound can of lime Gatorade powder for old
times sake but I don't know if that's as desirable as it was
back then:)

be well!

Lorna Doones, nothing like a short bread cookie and three ounces of juice to hold you over
