Fair Warning

I mentioned last week that the late night ruckus, ‘what ruckus?’ you ask, the late night ruckus, about 10:45. ‘Could you describe the ruckus?’, yes, lots of wailing sirens from a good number of fire trucks, was conducted intentionally to celebrate a championship.

Well, I’ve been informed that we have two teams this week going for additional District XI titles. The Lady Blue Eagles lacrosse team won 22-9 in yesterday’s district semi-final to reach the finals against Emmaus, being played Friday night. The Lady Eagles’ soccer team had already clinched its spot and plays tonight.

The fire department has informed me that they’ve gassed up the trucks and are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to create additional ruckuses.

Good luck to both teams!

As a town and a community, I think we could find better ways to celebrate our sports teams victories than using the fire companies gas, vehicles, and manpower. I know there are many more creative ways to support our athletes.

Strikes me as "old school" and I think it is great.

Don't forget, our firemen are volunteers, they do this for you at the expense of their time with their family and risk of potential injury in the line of duty.

We are very fortunate to have a borough that supports our local youth in the way that Nazareth does. The borough often recognizes individuals and teams from the school who have had a significant accomplishment regardless of whether they live in Nazareth borough or one of the school district municipalities.

I agree. It is a nice way to recognize their accomplishment. They work hard and deserve some recognition when they win titles. Nazareth is a small tight knit community. This is a nice way honor their accomplishments.

There are better ways like organizing a celebration like a parade, or an appreciate day, or event put together by the people of nazareth and the organizations involved. I just feel like driving fire trucks around with their sirens on isn't best idea for a celebration. It has nothing to do with the people who drive them nor the people who watch them drive by.

Unaware of this town's celebratory habits my husband ran out of the house in his underwear thinking there was a major emergency.

It WOULD be nicer and more meaningful to have a parade (in the daylight) where the girls can bask in THEIR glory firsthand. Though, I am very glad that the girls' teams are acknowledged at all!

WOW I am so proud to be a member of the Nazareth area. The celebration for the girls will last them a lifetime. If you could or did see the smiles on the girls faces as they were escorted through Nazareth for there great accomplishment was awesome and the cheering of the people on the side of the street was unbelievable. Good job girls you deserved that fire dept. escort.

I have no problem with horns honking and people cheering - this is quite an accomplishment and deserves to be celebrated!

However, I don't believe emergency vehicles should be used to celebrate. I get up early and was awakened by the noise. I ran into the street to find many pajama-clad neighbors trying to find out if there was an emergency situation that required action.

It was frightening for awhile until we figured out what was going on. In this day and age, it may be irresponsible to use emergency vehicles for a celebration. Bring on the parade!
