Council Meeting

The Express-Times reports that a local business owner, Steve Nickles of the Internet Café and Deli on Broad Street, brought complaints and supporters to the Council meeting over violations he has received for holding an outdoors open mic night (read the article here).

Council changed an ordinance following earlier requests by Nickles, and the latest came after the change. According to the article, the new ordinance allows open mic until 10:00 p.m. and Nickles was cited at 9:15 p.m.

Council noted that since the ticket was issued, Nickles does need to appear and defend his case, but also noted that more communication between Council and police regarding the change may be necessary to ensure the new ordinance is applied correctly.
