Police Lose 1 Full Time Officer in Borough

The Express-Times reports that the Nazareth Borough Council voted to not retain a new officer in his first year leaving the borough with 3 full-time, 2 disability, and multiple part-time officers (read the article here).

Chief Trachta indicated there wouldn’t always be an officer on duty and that he’d call on the State Police to help fill gaps.

I’m not certain if the staff numbers cited include the Chief, but it would seem that the significant increases in the police department over the past several years coupled with two officers being on disability has finally caught up to the department in regard to budget.
