Nazareth’s Chuck Dibilio was named to the All State 2nd Team following a season that resulted in him being named the LVC’s offensive MVP and rushing for 2,050 yards, 30 TD’s and a career that included school records for rushing, all-purpose yards, and touchdowns according to an article in the Morning Call (read it here).
Which pretty much begs the question who was 1st Team?
There were three named: Ryan Brumfeld, Owen J. Roberts, Sr., 5-10, 185, Alex Papson, North Allegheny, Sr., 5-8, 180, and Jamal Abdur-Rahman, La Salle College High School, Sr., 5-10, 180 according to the Associated Press (list of 1st and 2nd team here).
On Brumfeld from The Mercury “Owen J. Roberts' Ryan Brumfield led in rushing (2,338 yards), total net yards (2,336 yards) and scoring (192 points)”
Papson was on a North Allegheny team that won the PIAA AAAA title, had the co-players of the year (yes two from one team) and coach of the year. He missed the title game due to injury, but the Post Gazette noted, “Papson rushed for 2,550 yards on 315 attempts this season and had 4,533 yards on 606 carries throughout his career, in which he was on the varsity team since he was a freshman and was a three-year starter.”
Abdur-Rahman’s team also made the AAAA title losing to North Allegheny 21-0 and unfortunately I ran out of time trying to track down stats, but it would be assumed his yardage was greater than Dibilio’s.
None-the-less an outstanding and record setting career for Chuck and best wishes in all his future endeavors.
