Methamphetamine Lab Bust in UNT

Yesterday driving home from MS morning drop-off I noticed multiple police cars at a home on Friedenstahl Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets. This morning both the Express-Times and the Morning Call report on two men being arrested for possession, intent to distribute, and potential to manufacture methamphetamine (ET article and MC article).

Considering the home is located in-between the HS and IS and not far from the MS and Elementary school, I hope additional charges for being in a school zone are also applied.

Might be time for our local government to look into the Meth Watch Program. This program was stated in Kansas and has spread to other states. Basically gets retail stores, merchants, drug stores etc. involved in keeping watch over the products that need to be purchased to make meth. Employees are trained to recognize what ingredients are being purchased. Signs are placed in stores to let the meth makers know they are being watched........You can google "meth watch program" for videos and an overview.

There are already a whole number of laws and programs trying to keep the raw materials from being easy to get. Yet, the end result is that I never buy decongestants anymore because they no longer work.

The tweakers will always find a way to get the raw materials.

That being said, I want to see something done. I live north of Philly, but was born and raised in Nazareth. I still go to church in Nazareth, and am involved in a lot of Nazareth groups. Hopefully, I will be able to move back to the Valley in the near term to raise my family in Nazareth. I mention all of this because, lately Nazareth has been getting a lot of press for the wrong reasons.

Personally, I'm more of a libertarian when it comes to drugs - make them legal and tax them to cover the costs associated with dealing with them. But for now, they are illegal and the idiots who do them will fund their habits illegally. So it is time for the Nazareth Police Force to start making some arrests and putting the sh**heads on notice.

(As an aside, I truly hope these two idiots live inside the school protection zone. Make an example of them.)
