Sinkhole at New MS

It appears there was a sinkhole in the grass inside the new track at the MS. Earlier this week there were wooden horses marking it off and this morning a front end loader was near the same location.

A reader contacted me about it stating that maintenance indicated it would be fixed quickly but it was unknown if the cause was drainage or something else.

Prior to building, the area was prone to sinkholes, particularly near/on the field hockey field behind the fieldhouse.

Borough Park Improvements

The Express-Times reports that Nazareth Borough will use a combination of borough funds and grant money to update the pool filtration system and the cabin at the Borough Park (read the article here). Both were built in the 30’s/40’s and are used throughout the summer.

The pool has been the subject of some discussion as attendance is down, probably due to a larger number of home owners in the area now having backyard pools coupled with competing demands on individuals’ time. Last year a change to the fee structure boosted attendance by leveling the amount paid by residents and non-residents.

School Calendar Update

Received this today from the MS regarding make-up snow days, all things considered, maybe we ought to build snow days back into the schedule:

Snow Make-Up Days

The Nazareth Area School board approved two more make-up snow days. The complete list of make-up days are as follows:

·         April 18th

·         April 19th

·         April 20th

·         April 21st

·         June 13th

·         June 14th

Notes: If we have another inclement weather day off from school, it will be added to the end of the school year.

We will be flexible with families who have made vacation plans during these additional days to the school calendar.
