- Ecology, Councilman Samus
- Looking into software that will allow borough to bill for garbage and can be used jointly with sewer authority. Also looking at composting at the authority.
- Letter was sent to Essroc asking if they will complete the work on the soccer fields by spring.
- Law, Councilman Herbst
- Skate Park is proceeding. Spoken with Gordon Heller of Northampton County Parks and discussed options and grant opportunities. Also spoke with Grucela's office who has applied for a $10,000 grant for the project. Tatamy has made a resolution to support it and offered $3500, Bushkill and Upper Nazareth are also looking at resolutions and commitments. Brian's Professional Cleaning has donated $1000.
- Planning Commission reorganized, but is basically the same. They are discussing having a historic district ordinance and reviewing all zoning at this time.
- COG has requested that Nazareth adopt an implementation agreement as it is the only one of the eight participating who has not.
- Received a request from the Main Street Initiative requesting space at the new government building on South Main Street.
- Economic Development, Councilwoman Werner
- Looking at having a sports camp to supplement existing programs. It would be run by a third party, a week long, and feature 15 different sports from around the world.
- Finance, Councilman Matz
- New law that bans use of social security number on documents mailed to an individual and to generate a unique number on EIT need software costs $500.
- Fire, Councilman Dougherty
- Fire at Essroc need to pay for cleanup of equiment.
- Looking at putting new Purchase Order and Logs in place to better monitor all spending as well as fuel use in vehicles.
- Carnival dates 6/20 to 6/23 at the Park
- Egg Hunt 3/31 at the Park
- Ask engineer to draw up plans for a multi-tonal signal
- Highway, Councilman Kopach
- New loader should be in next month, see what they can get for the old one.
- New building on South Main Street:
- Requires walls coming out
- Put holding cells in.
- sliding windows interior installed
- Discussed a path from back lot to front that doesn't require crossing drive through lanes.
- discussed future change so parking is diagonal.
- A bit of a discussion about the building itself on which I'll expand upon in the future.
- Samus asked if police have had input, to which Herbst responded Chief Ruch did and they were trying to get in building with least amount of work.
- Samus noted he spoke with some officers who were concerned with the floorplans specifically being on two floors and having public access to their areas. Herbst noted the police areas will be secure.
- Samus then commented on the idea of renting space. He stated we aren't in the business of renting and didn't know if we should be. Herbst replied that it was 1/3 bigger than what needed, the drive-through was part of the deal, and if we can recover costs through rent we should consider it.
- Other issues related to the building were security company to have a quote, phones, and ADA compliance.
- Mayor Keller
- Stated that Monday he will have his State of the Borough Address.
- No reports from Engineer, Solicitor, and Police Chief
- Council President Chiavaroli
- Noted there will be executive sessions for personnel and possible litigation.

Here again it seems that the public is being broadsided by all the issues going on in Nazareth. We should NOT be a landlord just after purchasing a building for use as a police headquarters. I know that a police headquarters needs to be secure! It’s bad enough that the bank needs access to the building for the drive through. Next perhaps we should just leave the building unlocked so the public can see how the police department works. Seriously, the building needs to be SECURE! Everything locked, sealed, etc. Soon the new building will be just like the old building, Leaking, easily broken into and OUT of…..and sadly in need of repair.
