Comments from the floor:
Ed Karch commented that it was dangerous to pull out of the intersection at New and Chestnut; Cindy added that you can't see what is coming at the intersection of Elm and Chestnut. Council should study the matter. Ed also asked what is being done to perpetuate Hall Park. Cindy will work on the wording of a resolution and have something soon.
Les Little, Chairman of the Shade Tree Commission, stated that the Gateway project at the lower end of Main St is on schedule and should be completed this month. He read a press release from the National Arbor Day Foundation honoring Nazareth for the 4th year as a participant of Tree City USA. Arbor Day will be on 4//28 at 10am at the Park.

Ecology - announced regular hours of operation for the refuse collection at GW Stoudt Blvd; part-time help needed.
Police - Motion to designate that a committee be formed by Nazareth Borough to meet with a similar committee from Upper Nazareth Township to discuss, review and consider all possibilities for the creation of a regionalized police service for their respectibve municipalities.
Comments: this is an appropriate step to provide police service to both municipalities. Ordinance passed to restrict truck traffic on Whitfield St from Center to North Street.
Mike Kopach - questioned if the Boro has "anything on the books" with regard to sex offenders. There are four registered within the Boro. Referred to Law Committee
Jack questioned the concrete work for a new surface, supports and repairs at the bandshell at the park for an approximate cost of $9,000. Originally is was approved for the roof only with electrical updates. This is a lot for "additional beautification'. Justin (engineer) remarked that it was not just for looks, but mainly repairs. (me - where is this additional money coming from - will have to ask next time) 2 years ago the project had a budget of $24,000; now it's up to
approx $47,000
Fire - motion to close the Park Pool at 6pm on the days of the Fireman's Carnival Motion to accept the low bid of $16, 872.00 of BayComm, Inc. for the Borough's mass alerting system, pending approval of the bid by the Boro engineer. This price is all inclusive and on the existing pole.
Finance - looking at the critical needs for '07 thru '09. ie Boro Park, stormwater and sewer projects, skateboard park, improvements to 134 S Main St, dog park, 30 Belvidere St., bathrooms and improvements to Council Chambers, amphitheatre area, Essroc soccer fields, etc.
