On Saturday at the Jacksonian Club in Nazareth according to the Morning Call the Northampton County Democratic Committee endorsed candidates for office in the primary (read the article here).
For County Council, District 3 includes Lower Nazareth and Nazareth Borough, whereas District 4 includes Upper Nazareth and Bushkill Townships. There are contested races in each of these on the Democratic ticket. LaMont McClure and Will Power in the 3rd and John Maher and William Hall in the 4th.
There was also an article over the weekend in the Express-Times noting that the Governor's proposal to make PA's primary relevant in the next Presidential election by moving it up to late February or March has the PA School Boards Association and other education based organizations concerned. The concern is a result of Act 1 which requires budgets be tied to primary election dates (read the article here).
Candidate Night Update: I wrote about having two candidate night's in Nazareth (read about it here) at the Nazareth News Agency and have already received confirmation from District Magistrate candidates Gary Hammer and Alan Siegfried and from County Council candidate Peg Ferraro. I will continue to update those attending as I receive them. Each night will be an open house for residents to come and meet candidates running for office:
On Thursday, April 19, 2007 candidates running for Borough Council and County Council in the Nazareth School District area will be encouraged to participate (if you are a candidate, email me at editor@newsovercoffee.com to confirm your participation) in this first time event.
On Thursday, April 26, 2007 candidates running for Nazareth School Board and District Judge will be encouraged to participate (again, if you are a candidate, email me at editor@newsovercoffee.com to confirm your participation).
