I had said all along I wouldn't force a site registration, but I stand corrected. Given some individuals' desire to do nothing but pick fights with anyone who tries to make a post and to then make rude and crude comments repeatedly after they've been deleted (not to mention personally attacking people's spouses and families), I am left with no option but to require a registration for comments to be posted.
In this way I can delete the user as well as the comment.
I recognize that most readers don't have a problem making appropriate comments, but there are those who want to ruin things for everyone else so here we are. I can't waste my time, nor do readers want to sift through garbage to get to useful information.
