Responsibility for our own words. All individual's who post or comment on this site have a responsibility for the words they use. This responsibility includes: proper citation/notation of other's words when quoted, abstaining from the infringement of copyrighted and trademarked material, presenting a tone that is consistent with being constructive and maintaining civility at all times.
If tensions escalate, site readers and/or the moderator should step in to remind those whose tensions are escalating to take a deep breath, step back, count to 10 (or 100 if very upset) and keep focused on being constructive and maintaining civility. The moderator should also reach out privately to the parties to remind them to 'attack the issue' not the individual, if possible.
Take action against individuals who disrupt the civility of the site. All are asked to remind individual's when comments are not consistent with the accepted site environment. The moderator/site owner reserves the right to delete any comment that is not consistent with site standards and will try to identify what aspect is not consistent and encourage the individual to meet the site standards. If the individual continues to violate the site's expected civility, the moderator/site owner reserves the right to ban the violator from participating in the site's conversations and/or to notify Blogger of any Terms of Service Violations that occur as a result of the posts/comments made.
In order to be able to take action when the civility of the site is being intentionally and/or maliciously disrupted by an individual, only registered users are permitted to comment. Registered users, based on Google Blogger's registration process, are not required to identify personal information and therefore can maintain anonymity. No personal data, beyond what any other reader can access by clicking on a commenter's name and viewing their profile is available to or collected by the site owner/moderator. The site does utilize Google Analytics and Google AdSense services and data collected by these services is available to NewsOverCoffee.
