Mass Alert Test?

For those in the borough did you hear a long uninterrupted tone from the new mass alert system on Thursday?

I received word that it was heard, but no confirmation of it being a test or there being an emergency could be found. The Borough web site did not indicate a test (view it here) would take place on Thursday and a call to the borough office indicated they were unaware of a test.

At night around 7:00 p.m. while sitting on the deck, we did hear a tone that I thought at first came from the cement plant, but later sounded like it was from the borough. It went on for about a minute or so.

Anyone have any information?

There was a flyer in the garbage bill that states the emergency
siren will be tested every Thurday
at 7. That seems excessive to me.
I am already tired of hearing the
new fire alarm.

I heard it while I was in the vicinity of Schoeneck Moravian Church. I thought to myself that it was obviuosly a siren, but it was not very "alerting"...just sounded like some siren was stuck, only one tone...so what are we supposed to do if we hear it? Run for the hills, the terrorists are coming??

If they truly test it every thursday people will come to ignore it.

I lived in Riegelsville for 25 years and they tested their siren/signal once per week as well (Mondays at 6pm, I think). Eventually, people will learn of and become accustom to the weekly test and realize it is only a test when they hear it at 7 on a Thursday. It won't make them immune to it...that makes no sense. It's not excessive at all...you have to test the thing.

The alarm will be tested twice a week. Monday at 7 for the fire alarm and Thursdays at 7 for the
emergency alarm. That is excessive.
Why not test it the same night as the fire so we know the difference
between the 2 sounds. Maybe the alarm should ring every time they waste more of the taxpayers money.
