Freakin Id#&$t politicians. I shouldnt be surprised. There are kids who skate across from my house all the time and although the noise is loud, they are nice, polite and well meaning kids. I think the police dont need this distraction, it drives a wedge between their relationship with these youngsters. Now, they will have to ticket them, take their skateboards, whatever.
THe line about protecting them is a crock, and I challenge them prove its not. It makes no sense to allow them to skate at a park and not down the street like someone on a bike.
Does this mean if my 5 year old son is riding his scooter on my sidewalk he will get a ticket?!
Good thing Tatamy is a small town because I see these politicians all the time and my my vote counts for sure here.
I kind of chuckled at the thought that a skate park keeps the kids from skating on the streets (as the article suggests) when a few weeks ago I was at the park with my kids and a flock of skaters came careening down the middle of broad street north bound to the park---
it was quite a sight for my kids to see---and fortunately they all turned into the park entrance without incident on the road which is quite dangerous in that area
Yes, i guess it is humorous in a way how the politicians answer to everything is to pass a law. I think they actually belive it will help. My guess is that the mayor was getting pressure from some people who he knows and told them he would pass a bill to take care of it. It they dont want the kids to skate at places like the Mason's Lodge, then you dont need a new law to take care of that, but to pass a broad sweeping NO SKATING ANYWHERE law is ridiculous.
Is riding bikes next? I challenge the mayor to find an incident when someone got hurt riding a skateboard down the street. I know of an incident within a block of the mayors house where a young kid, about 8 was hit on his bike by a car.
I dont want to reserve to name calling but what a bunch of mental midgets.
Enough said.
Tatamite...If you don't like it, move the he.. out! Take all the Skaters with ya too. They have repsect for no one and you must not either!
