December Council Recap

Thanks to Paul Kokolus, Board Secretary/Treasurer for distributing the minutes from the December 3 Council Meeting (which I missed).

Four people spoke about the proposed parking meters on the South side of Center Street between Main and Broad Streets. In favor of the meters was store owner Louise Oswald Matyas, owner of Oswald Jewelers, who noted with a few businesses now on the street the meters will help patrons find parking and won't impact evening parking. The other three indicated it was not necessary.

Council recognized John Samus, Conrad Bowers, and Fred Daugherty for their service on Council, each will not be serving in 2008.

Council also recognized Bruce Applegate for his long service to the community particularly in his annual role as Santa Claus.

Approved the use request of the "Martin Flu Foundation" for use of the upper ballfield at the Park on April 25, 2008 and April 26, 2008. The approval includes permission to have concessions, sponsorship signs and to 'safely' mark the ballfield.

Requested that Larry Stoudt begin the process of authorizing a study of the parking situation.
